Why do teachers need to individualize instruction?<br />Legislative Laws (inclusion and least restrictive environment)<br />Every child is unique<br />Different learning rates<br />Different learning styles<br />Varying prerequisite knowledge<br />Effective in engaging at risk students<br />Provides a least restrictive environment for the student<br />
  3. 3. Individualized Instruction plan<br /><ul><li> Every special education student is required to have an individualized instruction plan (IEP).
  4. 4. Designing a plan for the individual student through a collaborative process (teacher, parents, administration and resource teachers).

Students learn at their own pace to feel and be successful in the regular education classroom.</li></li></ul><li>Technology Resources<br /><ul><li> IPod touch</li></ul>**Used to download applications to fit the students individual learning plan.<br />** Used as an accommodation.<br />** Used to calm students or ease their stress from noise in the classroom.<br />** Records lessons and notes for students to review.<br />

Technology Resources<br /><ul><li>Speech recognition or voice recognition programs</li></ul>**Allows the student to give commands and enter data using their voices. <br /> ** Voice recognition used to create text documents such as letters or e-mail messages, browse the Internet, and navigate among applications and menus by voice.<br /><ul><li> Reading tools and learning disabilities programs** Helps those students who find reading.</li></ul>** Reading pens (scans text and reads it aloud to students)<br />** Kidspiration(Writing program to help students map out their thinking about their writing. Student can use pictures or symbols the program finds the word related to the picture and develops an outline.)<br />
