Did You Know? - By Jay F. - Presentation Transcript

    1. Did you know? presented by Justin Fick ?
    2. What is the best recipe for mustard base BBQ sauce?
      • INGREDIENTS:
      • 1 12 oz can flat beer
      • 4 cups prepared yellow mustard
      • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
      • 1 tablespoon Louisiana-style hot sauce
      • 1 teaspoon sea salt
      • 1 teaspoon black pepper
      • PREPARATION:
      • Combine all ingredients in a non-reactive bowl and store in an air tight jar in the refrigerator. This sauce will keep for several months. You can replace beer with lemon juice or liquor. You can also use the Dijon style mustard for the American mustard.
      • My preference is to use just 2 cups of prepared mustard, keep the other ingredients the same and substitute 2 Tablespoons of Real Lemon for the flat beer.
      • When ready to use, paint the mustard sauce on the meat or chicken and then put your favorite spice rub on. Grill or smoke.
    3. Did you know that…
      • People usually only wear SOCKS with SANDALS when it is cold outside?
      • It seems weird to wear that people would wear that in this weather, but these people just like the fashion.
    4. French scientists have done research…
      • And they have found out that it takes 9 pokes to take a penguin up from a peaceful slumber.
      • They sure are heavy sleepers!
    5. Cna yuo raed tihs? Olny 55 plepoe out of 100 can.
      • Atfer a rsaersh ppaer at Ceambrge Uinvrsety, it wsa ntocied theat you only need to read the first and last letters of a word to understand it.
      • Wiered, uhh?
    6. Is it true that nothing can escape the gravity of a black hole?
      • Yes. The escape velocity inside the event horizon is infinite. Even light can’t escape. (speed of light = 3 * 10^8 m/s)
      • So, once something enters the event horizon, it can't escape.
    7. Gas prices were $1.50 in 2000. What are they now?
      • Now, as of 2007, gas prices are around $3.00, and are approaching $4.
      • The blame for this can be Katrina, for Louisiana was big on oil.
    8. When should puppies be taken away from their mother?
      • Puppies shouldn't leave Mom until they're at least eight weeks of age, and there are actually some good reasons why veterinarians recommend this.
      • Dogs, just like people, develop social skills as babies. They learn appropriate responses and boundaries in play. It makes for easier to train and more socialable dog in most instances.
    9. Do people who were born blind see dreams?
      • No. If someone has been totally blind since birth, they only have auditory dreams.
    10. Can your personality change?
      • As a person goes through life crises and events a personality changes. A person would have to live in a vacuum to not be affected in someway by the events that they participate in. A outgoing person who experiences a great deal of tragedy may become quiet and introspective. An individual who is shy as a child may become outgoing and gregarious as they become to participate in more activities during school and their esteem increases.
    11. Did You Know?
      • There is no other planet in the solar system best for life. Mars would be the best out of them all, but it has almost no oxygen, and it is so thin it will be impossible to breathe. The planet is also colder than Earth, making it a hostile planet for humans.
    12. How can the human race survive the next hundred years?
      • Even though the greed for power and the waste for everything we have is still intact, our technology has been a huge factor in our survival. We have yet to release something that could potentially destroy mankind, and we hope not to.
    13. Which products, used by few today, will be essential in five years?
      • Online Television. Not many people use it currently, mainly because it is just beginning to develop, but soon TV will be replaced by the internet. People will be able to just watch any show they want on their computers. And soon, as technology advances, people will be able to carry their TVs anywhere they want. So that stationary TV at the home will no longer be acceptable because it is too limiting. TIVO revolutionized the TV, but Internet TV will replace the TV in general.
    14. How did eyebrows evolve and what will they look like in a million years?
      • Eyebrows have evolved as being important in the non-verbal communication process to each other. In a million years, the communication of eyebrows will hopefully be understood better, and convey non-verbal thoughts far more expressive than we could possibly fathom now. Here is an example of how eyebrows have evolved in just the past couple of decades.
      • Also, eyebrows are tweeked into shapes, usually arches. The arch has gotten higher over time. I suspect that the arch is here to stay, but there may be times when a wavy, swoop, or even some fancy design will become popular.
