  3. 3. ROOTS OF THE GANGS <br /><ul><li>The black Pantherparty was considered one of the roots of the cripz and the bloods.
  4. 4. The black panthers goal was to help and protect African American communities (Free breakfast, building free hospitals….etc)
  5. 5. The black panther party was militant againt the governement
  6. 6. The US organization was also created to fight against the governement.
  7. 7. The US organization was less militant.
  8. 8. FBI sent both US organization and Black Panther Party false propoganda of one another.

  10. 10. How it all began<br />-1969 Crips gang started by Raymond Washington <br /><ul><li>The Crips wanted to follow the footsteps of the Black Panther party, but power curropted the gang to expand its territories.
  11. 11. Crips gave birth to another group that stood against there beliefs “THE BLOODS” (Bastards of The party 2007)
  12. 12. Reasons for the war cause</li></ul>Tension, Drug Trade, Power (territory) <br />-The crips drug trade helped the United States governement trade between Iran and Nicaragua.<br />
  13. 13. THE REUNION <br /><ul><li>In 1992 the Rodney King riots brought the Crips and the Bloods as one to fight against the system.
  14. 14. This was the first time both groups had collabirated, and were ready to follow the footsteps of the black panther party.

Similar to how FBI forced the break up of Black Panther party, it pushed athorities to break up the bloods crips. </li></li></ul><li>THE GANG WAR EFFECTS ON COMMUNITIES TODAY<br />-The city now counts 11,257 gangsters in 107 Crip gangs, and 4,505 in 43 Blood gangs, according to LAPD gang statistics.<br />-Research by George Tita, assistant professor at the University of California, Irvine, Department of Criminology, Law and Society, found gang-on-gang confrontations account for nearly one-third of killings, followed by the escalation of arguments.<br />-&quot;For most of the period, the number of homicide victims in both groups (African-American and Hispanic) has risen and fallen in tandem, and the Latino rate has consistently been approximately 2.5 to three times lower than the black rate,&quot; Tita wrote.<br />(http://lang.sbsun.com/socal/gangs/articles/ALL_p2main.asp)<br />

SOLUTION <br />-The institution has put a dead end for African American Youths. <br />-Each time in the history there has been an interuption by the government to stop the rise of activism in African American communities.<br />-Three alternatives to a solution<br />Education: money needs to be invested for the youths to get better educations.<br />Activism: The former gang members need to reach out the kids about doing the right thing.<br />Investing in the poor communities in order to build a safe place, by becoming as one. <br />
