- Firebird and 1 terabyte database Dmitry Kuzmenko, IBSurgeon
- On a desktop computer with
- SATA drives (1.5 tb)
- 4gb RAM
- Windows XP Professional SP3
- AMD x2 5200 processor
- TPC-C data
- lot of records
- ORDER_LINE - 3.7 billion records (358gb size)
- huge table
- STOCK - 404gb (1.3 billion records)
- big index
- ORDER_LINE_PK - 29gb size (3.7 billion keys)
- it took 12 hours to create, with 182gb temp space used
- All the data was loaded in ~72 hours, while using this computer as a usual desktop, with up to 15 simultaneously running applications, 1-2 of them were used at the same time
- Queries work fine
- The biggest known Firebird database is 405 gigabytes
