Tony Takes a Dive Read the story to find out how Uncle Bunny helped Tony Turtle.
Near the pond one day, I almost fell over an unusual rock. It was nearly round with a flat top. The bottom was green. I hadn’t seen the rock before.
I leaned over to get a closer look. When I was just a whisker’s length away, the rock talked. “Can you help me, Uncle Bunny?” it said.
Bless my ears and whiskers!” I exclaimed. I jumped back a few steps. A head and four legs slowly poked out of the rock. I bent my head over so that I was looking upside down. Then I saw that the rock was Tony Turtle.
“I was eating berries from a bush up on the hill,” Tony said. “When I reached for a berry, my foot slipped. I rolled down the hill and landed on my back. Now I can’t turn over.”
I tried to push Tony, but he just turned in circles on his back. I pushed with my cane and with my paws. Nothing worked. Then I shut my eyes and pushed with all my might. Tony shot over the edge of the bank, still upside down. Then he dropped in the water, where he could turn right side up. “Thanks, Uncle Bunny!” he called. “I’m all right now!”
“I’m glad I could help, Tony,” I answered. “All that pushing made me hungry. I think I’ll go look for that berry bush.”
