    • Avon Free Public Library
    • The OPAC What is an OPAC? What do we use the OPAC for? What can we do with the OPAC? Where else might you see an OPAC?
    •  OPAC- Online Public Access Catalog  Search for books, movies, music, research- anything that is in the library  Search for items, see if they are checked in or out, place holds  School, other public libraries
    • Step 1- Locate and open the OPAC Find the yellow star icon on your desktop and click it  How Else?.. Go to our library website and click on catalog www.avonctlibrary.info  Click on “Our Library Catalog”
    • Step 2- Locate section for title search
    • Step 2  Enter in title received from hat, Click Search
    • Step 3- What does all that stuff mean?  Depending on your search, you may have found lots of different things. This screen gives us quick information. Call Number Title More How many copies informatio available n
    • Step 3  Use your provided guide to help you find the item that matches your search and click on “Find It”
    • Questions to ask yourself  Does the Call Number start with a J  Does the format match the one I’m looking for? (Book, Movie, CD, etc.)  Does the Title Match?  Does the Author Match?  If you answered no to any questions, hit the back button on your Internet Browser
    • Step 3 Where is it? Copies available?
    • Step 4- Locate your book in the library Use the map of the children’s room provided in yourhandoutsto find your book
    • Step 5- On your own Now pick your favorite book and use the Activity 2 worksheet and map to find it in the library. Good Luck
