    Mark Oldfield - Presentation Transcript

    1. Mark Oldfield Summary of an Improvements Designer
    2. Personal Vision Statement
      • To inspire people to come together, to share the belief that they individually and collectively hold the power to create and shape their own lives and that of others.
      • To inspire others to build a culture of camaraderie, professionalism and achievement.
    3. Personal Mission Statement
      • To build professional and exciting relationships with customers and suppliers by:
      • Involving all stakeholders to design and implement new service models.
      • Streamlining procedures to make interactions accurate, efficient and pleasurable.
      • Resolving problems quickly.
      • Measuring the successes/failures through the implementation of relevant KPIs.
      • Continual improvement of hard and soft skills of all staff through regular training.
      • To build professional and strong relationships within the company by:
      • Involving staff in maintaining and improving the goals and direction of the team within the overall goals of the company.
      • Finding out what excites and encourages the individuals and teams.
      • Continually looking at where we are, and where we are going culturally/professionally.
      • Allowing individuals to be responsible for their own actions.
    4. Personal Objectives
      • I enjoy working in a role that is traditionally very process/numbers driven and sometimes (often?) averse to change; my passion is to bring change into this area. Although it is not as creative as Marketing it does have plenty of areas for scope eg: by finding out what the customers really do want in service may enable the company to rationalise its procedures making it better for the customer AND the company.
      • I am also very passionate about ensuring that staff are enthusiastic and invigorated by what they do and achieve. By ensuring they are trained and engaged, the atmosphere within the team is exciting and friendly, ultimately meaning the customer is getting better service.
      • By using both my analytical and creative skills, I find any challenge I can to improve the service, the process and the culture thus ensuring the viability of the company.
    5. Strengths
      • Inspired by making things work/work better.
      • Intuitive - can think quickly on feet regards problem solving.
      • Innovative - considers all standard and non-standard resolutions/applications.
      • Passionate – about satisfying, if not thrilling the customer.
      • Analytical – Decisions based on analysis, but the focus is dependant on the risk and urgency.
    6. Weaknesses
      • Autocratic at times – this is due to my getting so caught up with the strategies to reach the goal I try to get things moving faster than others are able to deliver. I counteract this by having structured planning and regular meeting with stakeholders.
      • Communication to secondary stakeholders – Again, getting caught up with the strategies secondary stakeholders can be forgotten in the update stage, although all primary stakeholders are obviously in the loop. To compensate for this I set up mailing lists or contact lists for projects or systems or, I delegate to a designated “communicator”.
    7. “ All about me”
      • Firstly I’m passionate about what I do. I’m a person that finds a subject then looks for a way of making it work better, whether this is a process, relationship issue or even a concept. I especially like to look at a range of alternatives as there are often untapped or underutilized gains to be found here.
      • I also like to encourage or train others to be their best. I believe everyone tries to do their best; they just need direction and/or opportunity to do this.
      • I see my role as a leader and manager – I lead my team while managing the barriers to their success, i.e. what is stopping them do their job?
