    • Drawing a scotia (Quadrants and elliptical) _ Stonemasonry technical skills at SkillsTech Australia
      • Method
      • Lay out a grid
      • Find the centre points of quadrants and their common point (confluence)
      • Scribe curves and add fillets at top and bottom of scotia
      Scotia construction: (Quadrants and elliptical)
    • Step 1: Draw a grid of squares and mark out curve centres and confluence Quadrants
    • Step 2: D raw the first quadrant to the confluence point Quadrants
    • Step 3: Draw the second quadrant, meeting the first quadrant at the confluence point Quadrants
    • Step 4: Add fillets at top and bottom Quadrants
    • Step 5: Clean up construction lines and draw outlines Quadrants
    • Step 6: Draw a horizontal centre line, and a line at 60 0 to it Elliptical
    • Step 7: Step off three times up and down from the centre line Elliptical
    • Step 8: Step off three times horizontally from the top and bottom, and mark the first radiating intersection point Elliptical
    • Step 9: Step off an equal amount to mark the second radiating point Elliptical
    • Step 10: Draw the first set of radiating intersection lines Elliptical
    • Step 11: Draw the second set of radiating intersection lines Elliptical
    • Step 12: Mark the points of the curve Elliptical
    • Step 13: Draw the curve freehand Elliptical
    • Step 14: Clean up the construction lines. Add fillets, and draw outlines Elliptical
