We chose zillow.com because we believe that Web 2.0 is more important for its ability to provide actual, tangible services rather than simply social networking. Zillow can be a very useful tool in the real estate business or for personal use. If you are looking for a home in a certain area the interactive map allows you to see how many houses are in the neighborhood, what commercial areas are in the neighborhood, what the land is like surrounding the house, and other details that you wouldn’t be able to find out unless you physically visited the house. The possibilities for scavenging around are endless.
We have no doubt that Zillow has a chance to be a really big thing, if it isn’t already. It’s not going to produce a ton of buzz because it’s targeted for older people who are looking to buy or sell their homes (so don’t expect it to generate talk like Facebook). But in the real estate world this clearly has a chance to be very popular because of how useful, interactive, and easy it is to use. Also, the creators are the same pair who started Expedia.com, which is a well-known online travel company that advertises on television. Therefore, the company clearly has legitimacy and credit to its name.
