  • 1. E X E C U T I V E S U M M A R I E S “ IT+Analytics on Tap” A proposal for Global SMB
  • 2. IT+Analytics on Tap for Small and Mediums Businesses
    • We have been developing IT+Analytics products for 5 years using freely available Open-Source tools, to bring to the market software solutions at a fraction of the cost. These projects have been executed in the Life Sciences domain where data is characterized by extremes – extreme diversity across the spectrum from molecular cell biology to clinical data, extreme volume (terabytes) generated by “high-throughput” techniques such as microarray analysis, extreme poverty of physical models leading to reliance on data-mining and Artificial Intelligence. Yet, we have successfully solved problems in partnerships with clients using:
      • Analytics comprising a mix of Data-mining and Artificial Intelligence using free and open-source R
      • The flexibility and scalability afforded by IT-infrastructure built in Linux-Apache-MySQL-Perl ( LAMP ) framework.
      • Web 2.0 technologies for a unique delivery model whereby clients can customize the service to their needs.
    • Therefore we propose to bring our experience with IT+Analytics built in Open-Source with unique Web 2.0 delivery model to serve the needs of small and medium enterprises in India - a USD 9.94 Billion emerging market. In essence, we are proposing to create a Toyota Model in IT and Analytics, leveraging the power of Web 2.0 to deliver customizable solutions fast in a holistic partnership with clients in SMB sector.
    INTRODUCTION & BUSINESS OBJECTIVE
  • 3. IT+Analytics on Tap for Small and Mediums Businesses (cont’d)
    • Small Business is constantly battling capital constraints. Assets needed for IT adoption are usually deferred. Instances of cost over-runs or failures are an inevitable part of IT implementations in large enterprise segments – similar problems in an SMB can be fatal. What most SMBs would like is less-complex solutions that scale-up as the enterprise begins to realize actual benefits.
    • For example, a medium scale fabric manufacturer in India selected an ERP package but wound up after making extensive, unexpected and expensive modifications. The system could not handle the scenario where the company priced the same bolt of cloth in two different ways. Unfortunately, in that ERP, there was no way to assign two prices to the same unit of the item, keeping inventory count accurate.
    • Our proposal, leveraging the proven strengths of Open-Source and Web 2.0, presents a completely re-worked business model from how software is made to the way it is delivered!
    • As we have demonstrated time-and-again in a different and in many ways more complex domain,
    • Open-Source means software is assembled from pre-fabricated components rather than written from scratch. Software assembly means faster turn-around .
    • Does this come at the expense of reliability? We have shown “not so!” in a life-critical domain like Healthcare. On the contrary, an Open-Source developer community means many independent and unbiased tests – the end-result software is software that is reliable and high quality .
    • Lastly, Web 2.0 gives us a delivery model whereby the customer can pick and choose components to suit their requirements. This translates into flexibility .
    • Further, the barrier to IT adoption is reduced by removing the substantial overhead in assets – using hosting platforms like Amazon S3 for data and applications.
    • Armed with knowledge and experience, we bring a unique and unbeatable value-proposition to the market.
    MARKET & KEY DIFFERENTIATORS
  • 4. IT+Analytics on Tap for Small and Mediums Businesses (cont’d)
    • The proposal is supported by our accomplishments :
    • Executed projects worth USD 0.5M in 2009 ~ INR 2.5 Crores
    • Includes: Small and large projects for various customers, including industry heavy-weights - Syngenta, Petronas, Amgen, Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Proctor & Gamble (P&G).
    • Focus on Execution in Project Management Framework – PMI* Methodology.
    • Changed Product Delivery Model using Web 2.0 – to provided complete flexibility and scalability to customers.
    • Thus, extending our reach to customers and increasing market-share (projected 15% increase, $ terms).
    • Enabling an integrated-delivery model – creating a seamlessly integrated product-space combining the offerings of the organization and its partners to our mutual benefit. With the delivery model in place to put the customer in control.
PROJECT TEAM EXPERIENCE * Project Management Institute
  • 5. IT+Analytics on Tap for Small and Mediums Businesses (cont’d)
    • Project Turnover is 5 Crore Rupees at the end of 1 st year of operations.
    • Proposed to double every year thereafter till year 5.
