    • SYMMETRY
    • What is symmetry?
      • A figure is symmetrical when there exists a line which divides it into two parts, such that if the figure is folded along that line, the two parts exactly overlap each other
      • The line which divides figure into two equal is called line of symmetry or a axis of symmetry.
      • Line segment has one line of symmetry i.e. perpendicular bisector that divides the line into two equal parts.
    • SOME SYMMETRICAL SHAPES
    • GEOMETRICAL FIGURES WITH ONE AXIS OF SYMMETRY
      • LINE SEGMENT: A line segment has one axis of symmetry which is the line passing through the mid point of the line segment and is perpendicular to the line segment .
      • ANGLE: An angle has only one axis of symmetry which is the line that divides the angle into two equal halves.
      • ISOSCELES TRIANGLE: An isosceles triangle is a triangle with two equal sides .
      • SEMICIRCLE: A semicircle has one line of symmetry which is the line passing through the mid point of the diameter and is also perpendicular to it .
    • MIRROR OR REFLECTION SYMMETRY
      • When the object and its reflection are symmetrical , the mirror line is the axis of symmetry.
    • PROPERTIES OF MIRROR REFLECTION
      • The length of the image remains the same as that of the object.
      • The angle also remains unchanged.
      • The image will be as far behind the mirror as the object is in front of the mirror.
