Introduction <ul><li>Our plan is: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>“ Everyone Deserves Music ” - a three-day street fair of EVERYTHING that music has to offer. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>We will show you a plan that includes live music, recorded music, interactive, educational, instructional and creative, all in an attempt to allow people to involve and participate in the world that music has to offer. </li></ul>

FOLK MUSIC <ul><li>Brief history of folk music - from it’s 19th century origins, including Celtic, Eastern European and Balkan influences. </li></ul><ul><li>1950s influences - Dylan, Cohen, Mitchell, Mamas and Papas </li></ul><ul><li>Memorabilia purchase </li></ul><ul><li>Modern influences - Cat Power, Fleet Boxes, Bon Iver - and MORE </li></ul><ul><li>Grab a bean bag and share the listening experience with other Folk lovers. </li></ul>

BUSKING COMP <ul><li>Up to 100 buskers will have a ‘busk out’ over the event. </li></ul><ul><li>The winners are decided by people attending the fair. </li></ul><ul><li>The experience will be wholly engaging, while audiences vote on their favourite busker. </li></ul><ul><li>First prize: $10,000 - from The Newcastle Herald as sponsor. </li></ul><ul><li>The winning busker will perform on the final night of the fair with other bands. </li></ul>

Indigenous Aboriginal Music <ul><li>Teaching and playing Aboriginal instruments by Abie and Warrick Wright. </li></ul><ul><li>Raising awareness of aboriginal music </li></ul><ul><li>Opportunity to play and listen to music associated with a specific culture. </li></ul><ul><li>Includes: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Singing </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Didgeridoo </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Clapsticks </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Skin Drum </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Dancing </li></ul></ul>

SELL ‘n’ SWAP <ul><li>Second hand records, CDs, tapes and 8-Tracks. </li></ul><ul><li>Selling, swapping or buying music from the stall or people visiting the stall. </li></ul><ul><li>Not genre-specific </li></ul><ul><li>‘ Recycling’ records - broadening and renovating music - trash can be treasure. </li></ul><ul><li>Re-invigorate people’s appreciation of the PHYSICAL element of music collection. </li></ul>

OZ HIP-HOP <ul><li>A stall allowing for people to engage with ALL things related to Hip-Hop: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Break dancing </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Beat boxing </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Australian Artists and DJs. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>B-Boy and B-Girl Comps </li></ul><ul><li>Interactive wher ethe artists engage with the public. </li></ul>

Create Your Own Instrument <ul><li>Featuring the Australian Guitar-making school. </li></ul><ul><li>Students show off their instruments and have lessons on what they’ve made. </li></ul><ul><li>Wide range of materials: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>glue </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>cans </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>bottle caps </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>plastic bottles </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Jam Sessions </li></ul><ul><li>All with lots of staff and parental guidance </li></ul><ul><li>Up to 25 participants at any one time. </li></ul>

VOCAL COACH <ul><li>Add the finishing touches to your stellar talent with out expert vocal coaches. </li></ul><ul><li>Professional staff record your voice in an innovative interactive experience. </li></ul><ul><li>Staff will advise you on where your style and technique can use improvement. </li></ul><ul><li>The chance is there to organise and book follow-up sessions. </li></ul><ul><li>Expert teaching will enable you to become a star - STEP OUT FROM THE CROWD </li></ul>
  13. 13. INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS <ul><li>Enables groups to add an international flavour and edge to their music. </li></ul>

SYMPHONY MUSIC <ul><li>A stall where the history and current events of orchestral music are explored. </li></ul><ul><li>String quartets will play music </li></ul><ul><ul><li>BUT, they will also attempt to play requests. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Mozart, Bach, Beethoven - they will all be rolling in their graves. </li></ul><ul><li>Also, the Newcastle Conservatorium will provide students and teachers. </li></ul><ul><li>Orchestral music will cross into other genres. </li></ul>

SOUND ENGINEERING <ul><li>A closed off stall will be set up with equipment and speakers to create a surround sound experience. </li></ul><ul><li>‘ Performances’ will be given through the day to give 3D sound experiences. </li></ul><ul><li>Throughout the day, professionals will give small discussions and tutorials on creating superior sound. </li></ul><ul><li>Equipment provided for by Audio Junction. </li></ul>
  16. 16. ‘ Meet and Match’ Stall <ul><li>This stall is all about the creation of more local bands for us to listen to and enjoy. The Meet and Match stall will provide the opportunity for unsigned artists, or for artists without a band, to meet other artists and agents. The stall will provide interactive ways for people to meet one another and will allow for genres and styles of music to be paramount in the decision making process. By the end of the festival, it is hoped that around 30 new bands are created. While this number is high, the possibilities of meeting and matching bands are incredible in Newcastle. </li></ul>Who else will get involved? -1233 ABC Music Awards -University of Newcastle National Campus Band Comp -Bacardi Band Search

Learn to play the Bongo Drums <ul><li>Working on the ideal that an informed, educated audience is an appreciative, music loving audience, this stall will assist people who might not be musically talented find a place in the music world. The stall will be run by local music teachers and will teach the basics of rhythm and beat. Hopefully, by the end of the three day music festival, more than 50 people will have attended the free stall. However, I expect numbers to be much higher. </li></ul>
