  • 11. Building materials Definition: They're materials that are used in building's constructions and monuments. Types: Stony materials, binder materials, concrete, ceramic materials and other materials.
  • 12. Stony materials Compact rocks: are blocks of limestone, marble, granite, slate, sandstone... Disintegrate rocks: Clay and aggregates.
  • 13. Binder materials Definition: They are materials that when they are mixed with water they become solid and rigid Types: Lime Plaster Cement
  • 14. Concrete Definition: it is a mixture of arids, binder and water. Types: - Mass concrete - Reinforced concrete - Cyclopean concrete - Cellular concrete
  • 15. Ceramic materials Different processes: 1. Mix and mold: Machines mixes clay with water. Then, the mass takes form. 2. Firing on continuous kiln: Gives continuous heat to the ceramic pieces. Materials: Bricks Slates Tiles Stoneware Porcelain
  • 16. Other materials
    • The woods, plastics and glass are also building materials.
  • 20. Buildings constructions
The building construction is a long and complex process that contains many phases:
    • 1. Land preparation through operations of demolition, earthmoving and leveling.
  • 21. Building construction
    • 2. Foundation Pile: is the colocation of the elements that form the base of the building.
    • 22. 3. Elevation of the structure: at this stage are built the pillars and plates that will form the floors of the building.
  • 23. Building construction
    • 4. Water coverage: it consist in the colocation of the roof of the building.
    • 24. 5. Colocation of paving:is the colocation of materials over the plates of each building.
  • 25. Building construction
    • 6. Elevations of walls
    • 26. 7. Colocation of installations (water, gas, electricity, etc)
    • 27. 8. Works of finish
  • 28. Constructions tools
    • In the earth movements are used spades, wagons and baskets.
    • In demolitions are used percussion tools and cutting tools.
  • 29. Construction tools
    • In the masonry works are used pallets and stirrers.
    • 30. In plaster work are used trowels.
    • In meditions are used the meters and tape measures.
  • 31. Construction machinery
    • In excavation and earth movements, are used the excavators.
    • 32. In land leveling, are used buldozers and road roallers.
    • 33. The materials are transported with trucks.
  • 34. Construction machinery
    • In construction, the materials are elevated with cranes. This are formed of three elements:
    • 35. - The tower
    • 36. - The jib
    • 37. - The counter jib
