  • 1. Where The Red Fern Grows Chapter 9 and Little Ann Old Dan
  • 2.
    • Billy was with his grandpa in the woods and was trying to cut down a big tree with a coon in it.
  • 3.
    • Grandpa got mad that he was giving up. He said that you never start anything you won’t finish, and Billy should still try to cut it down.
  • 4.
    • They were going to go home but Old Dan wouldn’t leave because he wanted to get the coon that much.
  • 5.
    • Later one Grandpa told Billy about the backtracking trick. The coon went up the tree and down the same trail he made going there.
  • 6.
    • At breakfast papa told Billy that he heard a dog crying and that it sounded like Old Dan. Billy went out to check on the dogs and Old Dan wasn’t there.
  • 7.
    • He went to the woods and Old Dan and Little Ann were there at the tree.
Then out of nowhere there was some wind and it knocked down the tree.
