  • 1. 10 days of sales and promotion at Le Printemps in Lyon, France April 8 to 24, 2007 Be there to represent the new wave of Canadian designers ! A unique event…
  • 2. Background
    • In June 2005, SAJE Montréal Métro organized an exploratory mission with six Montreal fashion designers and creators, to investigate the French market.
    • In January-February 2006, SAJE Montréal Métro proposed a second mission to conclude distribution and representation agreements for the six Montreal designers.
      • In collaboration with the Canadian embassy in Paris, the collections of these young Montreal designers were presented to the Parisian fashion world at the Museum of Canada.
      • Three Quebec designers participated in the fashion tradeshow in Lyon, with fashion parades of their collections.
  • 3. 2007 fashion event at Le Printemps in Lyon
    • From April 12 to 21, 2007, new Canadian designers ( prêt-à-porter, leathercraft, accessories, interior design…) will have the opportunity to showcase their Spring-Summer 2007 collections and sell their creations at the frontline fashion store Le Printemps in Lyon, France, in collaboration with SAJE Montréal Métro and the Canadian embassy in Paris.
      • A VIP meet-and-greet evening will be held on April 12 in Lyon with the Canadian ambassador to France.
    • Lyon’s Le Printemps store offers retail space and favourable conditions for promoting the new wave of designers from Canada
      • 5 to10 m 2 /designer
      • 25% mark-up charged on sales by Le Printemps
      • Promotional campaign, Space in the window on De la République street
      • All sales materials provided by Le Printemps (coded labels and furniture)
    • Pre-selection of Canadian designers coordinated by Helyum
    •  
    • Registration fee: 250$ ( File analysis fee)
    • Mission fee : $3000 (Departure April 8th, return April 24th)
  • 4. 2007 fashion event at Le Printemps in Lyon (cont’d)
    • Final selection
      • The Lyon Le Printemps will make the final selection of designers ensure the offer is consistent with the store’s offer.
      • Individual contracts will be signed between the Lyon Le Printemps and each designer: consignment stocks, commission rate charged on sales, etc. 
    • Promotional campaign
      • Window display space in the Rue de la République Le Printemps store
      • Press releases
      • Advertising distributed to holders of Le Printemps cards
      • Promotion on www.printemps.com
      • In-store signage: messages and directions for the customers

    • Objectives of Canadian Embassy:
      • To promote Canadian design within a high-visibility event;  
      • To provide a delegation of Canadian designers with the opportunity of not only a trade mission in France but of an actual business and sales operation in the market;
      • To offer a networking opportunity in the French market to a delegation of Canadian designers; 
      • To promote Canada in the Rhônes-Alpes region.
    • Objectives of the department store Printemps of Lyon:
      • To develop projects in line with its mission of helping young fashion designers;
      • To develop communication campaigns to increase the flow of traffic at the department store;
      • To express the department store's openness to the world.
  • 6. Stages in the selection process
    • Deadline for submission of completed registration file: December 18, 2006
    • Pre-selection committee: December 19, 2006
    • Submission of pre-selected candidates to the Lyon Le Printemps: December 20, 2006
    • Final selection: January 22, 2007
    • Submission of mission cheque ($3000): February 1, 2007 at the latest
    • Merchandise for the sale will have to be delivered to the store Le Printemps de Lyon in the week of March 19th to 24th, 2007.
  • 7. Registration conditions
    • Mandatory conditions
    • Have been in business for at least 3 years
    • Have a functional website featuring past collections
    • Have up-to-date promotional materials (brochures and other)
    • Submit a cheque for $250 with the registration form*
    • Complete the registration form and state
    • Your motivation
    • Your vision of the French market
    • Your international experience
    • Your export potential
    • Your financial results for the past two years**
    • 10 photos of your Spring-Summer 2005 and 2006 collections and 2006 price list
    • Description of Spring-Summer 2007 collection
    • Price list for Spring-Summer 2007 collection, if available
    • * File analysis fee, non-refundable
    • ** Official documents to be provided after final selection
  • 8. Helyum
    • Services provided by Helyum to the candidates:
    • Pre-selection of candidates
    • Promotion of the event in Canada
    • Information meeting on the French market
    • Promotion of the event in France
      • Development of promotional documentation for the event
    • Coaching throughout the event (April 8 to 24)
    • Assistance with grant programs
    • Documentation on France, the Rhône-Alpes region, the city of Lyon
    • Helyum reservations service (additional fees)
      • Travel reservations ($150 travel reservations fee)
        • Plane, TGV, airport shuttle and hotel in Paris
      • Accommodations reservations for the entire trip ($150 accommodations reservations fee)
