    1. What Is The Role Of Youths In Defining Singapore’s Cultural Identity

      Focused on the Arts Industry
      Spent the two and a half days interviewing important stakeholders & youths
      As the Arts Industry encompasses various arts forms, we focused on the art form of music and those who are involved in it
      Spent Day 1 (Tuesday) on collating resources and calling up the people we were interested in interviewing
    3. Day 2 (Wednesday)
      Day 2, we had two interviews with two groups
      Andy Chia
      Chinese flautist (Plays the Chinese flute)
      Experiments with all kinds of ethnic and western music
      Teaches music at LaSalle
      SiongLeng Musical Association
      Deals with Nanyin Opera (which originated in Fujian Province a 1000 years ago)
      Conducts lessons for youths
      Started in Singapore in 1941
    4. Day 3 (Thursday)
      Day 3, we had two interviews with two individuals
      RiduanZalani
      Malay percussionist; is also in many bands (Wicked Aura, Sanofa)
      Plays in Singapore Malay Orchestra
      Creating a name for himself by fusing malay music with western elements
      MrFadhli Bin Ramli
      Arts Team Administrator of MajlisPusat, a youth
      MajlisPusat has many Malay art groups, which are run by youths
      Believes in that youths should take a more active role
    5. Team Conclusion
      • Most, including youths on the streets, think that youths should play a more active role
      • Though youths should first take time in understanding their own culture
      • Youths should preserve and yet further enhance it.
