  • 3. Learning Connections<br />•The main connection here is hand – eye coordination for dribbling.<br />•Other connections are understanding the rules and teamwork .<br />

  • 6. GOALS<br />• Dribble with head and eyes up with both hands.<br />• Dribble without losing control of the basketball.<br />• Being able to understand what to do when on offense and defense.<br />
  • 7. Basketball is a TEAM game<br />
  • 8. Assessment<br />•The student will do dribbling drills with the basketball while keeping head up, not looking at the ball.<br />•The student will dribble around chairs without losing control.<br />•The student will know how to run different offenses and defenses<br />
  • 9. Tasks<br />•Dribble the ball while looking at up, not the ball.<br />•Dribble around 5 chairs while keeping the ball under control (it is not a race, it is for control).<br />•Dribble the ball with your fingertips, do not slap at the ball, treat it like an egg.<br />

Teaching Strategies<br />•Trust yourself, trust the ball, it will come back to you, believe it.<br />•Do not make it a race, do not beat the person next to you, beat my challenge of getting through the chairs.<br />•Treat the ball like an egg, be gentle, do not slap at it, use your fingertips. <br />

Management<br />•Everyone will stand in a straight line, one at a time they will dribble and look at me.<br />•2 lines with 5 chairs lined up in front of each line, two at a time they dribble down through the chairs and then dribble back around.<br />• Have 5 players on offense and 5 on defense, to teach how to score and defend.<br />
