Transcript of "Evaluation of our thriller opening"

 1. 1. Evaluation of our thriller opening.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Who would be the audience for your media product?

How did you attract / address your audience?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

 2. 2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The conventions of our film is the opening to a thriller film. For our thriller we decided to watch a variety of thriller films to make sure we understood what exactly we had to do for our own opening. To do this we made a questionnaire so that we could find out what thriller films most people watched and also what kept them watching the rest of the film.

The majority of the audience we asked watched mainly horror thrillers so this gave us a direct influence into what our own thriller. They also decided that to keep them interested in the rest of the film not much had to be unveiled in the opening. so in the opening of our thriller not much is revealed we only set the scene and introduce a few characters not the killer.

 3. 3. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our media production represents a younger audience the reasons for this is that we have young actors, the target audience we wanted is younger generation because that’s what we know about best. This gives us the opportunity to produce something that we would like to watch as the audience.

 4. 4. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

We would liked to have involved lions gate films because they are a prestige's company which has had many successful films.

These include:

Crank

Saw 2

Hostel

Cabin fever

Also the format we would like to produce the film onto would be dvd because we hopefully would be able to make the majority of our money from DVD sales.

 5. 5. Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for our film would be the younger generation but over the age of 15 as our film is a horror film. Most people would frown upon a horror film that is for people under this age.

This film will also appeal to some older people because some people are film critics and will want to see the films just in case it isn’t suitable for our specified age limit.

Also the film we produced has got our specified age group in the film because we want the audience to relate to their fashion and social groups.

 6. 6. How did you attract / address your audience?

we attracted our audience by how the actors are presented and also we used audience research to attain what they wanted within the film.

We also used relevant speech that our audience can relate to as well as clothing that our audience generally wears

We also stereotypically made it seem like women cant read a map because our male actor supposedly doesn’t know where he’s going and blames the fact there lost on her map reading skills.

 7. 7. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

When we filmed and edited our film I have learnt that manipulate the film with final cut express in any way you want so that it can give the effect of a professional job. I am also more confident when it comes to uses the different cameras to get the final quality of the film to a higher standard than you can get with a cheaper camera.

The main bit of technology I have mastered is the use of the apple Mac's and the new editing software final cut express. After a few hiccups with the servers we were finally able to get editing.

 8. 8. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back I feel I have a fair way since our preliminary task I am more confident in what we have accomplished with the new equipment and the new software which took a bit of time to master.

I believe my ability to get the best shot out of any environment has improve a great deal. This is due to a lot of practice and

Also I can make the final piece of film flow freely with out any jumps in the footage which is a great improvement from last year.
