TAA E Learning Assessment 2 - Presentation Transcript

    1. TAA eLearning Assessment 2
      eLearning Tools Presentation
    2. The idea:Delivering training to staff on how to use a work social networking site
    3. Strategy 1: Blog
      • Instructional
      Blog
      • The blog will have posts with instructions on how to sign up and navigate Ning. Links to youtube videos showing visual demos, screen shots, listed instructions for those that need etc.
    4. Strategy 2: Ning
      • Ning.com
Ningwill be an activity in itself, making staff interact and use it. Learning through doing.
Site has abilities for advertising upcoming events, forum for discussions, posting info etc, live chat with whoever is logged on, creating groups, posting photos etc etc etc
    5. Learning Styles
Visual – written instructions, youtube/videos, screen shots
Kinaesthetic – tasks involving‘student’ carrying out instructions, interacting with blog and Ning, hands-on tasks
    6. Collaboration
      The end product is
      about collaboration and
      interaction, it only makes
      sense that the training on
      using it reflects the objective.
Both the blog and Ning promote users to interact, talk to each other, ask questions, answer them etc
    7. Activity
      e.g ‘Knitting group’
Students to join a group, post a comment
Blog> finding blog, following a link then posting a comment/question
Ning> signing up, joining a group, engaging in a live chat session with other members.
    8. Technical skills & Engagement
Students would need basic computer skills, including net navigation....something staff would generally use everyday already
      • Students kept engaged by hands-on tasks
      • Reward of interacting with other
      staff online
      • Activity used as assessment
    9. Skills & Software
No special skills or software required for trainer or student, just net access.
Free blogs to set up and Ning is free to join and create networks.
Goes without saying, but trainer needs to be familiar with these 2 tools and their use for intended audience.
