    • Only finished 5 th Grade.
    • Started out in a local soccer team, Grandoli, at 5 years old.
    • Went to Newell's Old Boys at age of 8.
    • Recruited by soccer club Barcelona at 11.
    • Had growth hormone deficiency and Barcelona could only pay for his treatment
    • 1 st game was on November 16, 2003 at 16 years old.

    • World Soccer Player of the Year: 2009
    • Olympic Gold Medal in 2008
    • Scored 1 st senior goal for the club on May 1, 2005. (Messi was 17 years, 10 months and 7 days old)

    • First of all, because he pushed through all the hardships he had in life and just kept on going to become a professional soccer player.
    • Second, is because he is a great athlete, is a great role model, and because he always has the courage to keep moving forward.

    • Current Career/Profession: Spanish Soccer Goalkeeper
    • Plays for Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid and the Spanish national team.

    • Started playing for the Real Madrid Youth Team at the age of 9 in 1990-1998.
    • Played for Real Madrid senior teams: B, C, and A-1 st Team.
    • Chosen for the Spain International teams: U15-U18, U20-U21, and 1 st Team.

    • I admire him because he is a good role model, he has great moral values, and is a great leader.
