  1. 1. Pressure Vessel Charging
  2. 2. Preparation <ul><li>Load membrane element into the pressure vessel just prior to start up. </li></ul><ul><li>Before assembling all component check the parts list and make sure all items are present in the right quantities. </li></ul><ul><li>R.O. Membrane element. </li></ul><ul><li>U-Cup Brine seal. </li></ul><ul><li>Inter-connector with O-Rings. </li></ul><ul><li>Adapter with O-Rings. </li></ul><ul><li>Thrust Ring. </li></ul><ul><li>Lubricant </li></ul><ul><li>Before Start: </li></ul><ul><li>Carefully remove all dust, dirt, foreign matter, and/or scale. </li></ul><ul><li>Check the pressure vessel on the inside and check visually. </li></ul><ul><li>Flush the tube with feed water (To help element slide in easier). </li></ul><ul><li>Record the serial number and location of each element in the system. </li></ul><ul><li>Group the elements in sets for each tube before you begin loading. (This prevent loading too many elements and having the first one fall out the other end of the tube). </li></ul>

End Cap <ul><li>Use an Allen wrench to remove securing screws from screwing ring. </li></ul><ul><li>As each screw is removed thread it into the adjacent hole until it contacts bearing plate. </li></ul><ul><li>Remove key segment first to free two other mirror-image segment. </li></ul><ul><li>Rotate each of these segment to top of end plug; they will drop from groove. </li></ul>End Cap Out
  6. 6. Reducer <ul><li>Use hands to remove reducer from first and last membrane element. </li></ul><ul><li>Remove O-Ring from reducer and check it, and it’s better if replaced. </li></ul><ul><li>Check reducer body for any crack. </li></ul>O-ring

Membrane Element Brine Seal <ul><li>Remove membrane element from by push from feed side using long pipe. </li></ul><ul><li>Remove brine seal from membrane neck and check it. </li></ul><ul><li>Check element from his body for any crack, telescope and scaling. </li></ul>Membrane Manufacture: ????   9. 9. Inter connector O-ring O-ring <ul><li>Use hands to remove inter-connector from all membrane element one by one. </li></ul><ul><li>Remove O-Ring from inter-connector and check it, and it’s better if replaced. </li></ul><ul><li>Check inter-connector body for any crack. </li></ul>

  11. 11. Membrane Charge <ul><li>Lubricate the U-Cup brine seal and inter-connector O-Ring with silicone lubricant provided, Approved silicone lubricant. Never use any other lubricant unless approved in writing by membrane manufacturing. </li></ul><ul><li>Install the O-Ring on each inter-connector. </li></ul><ul><li>Install a U-Cup brine seal on the upstream end of each element. </li></ul><ul><li>The open grove of the U-Cup faces the upstream end (note the flow arrow on side of element which points toward downstream end) Never put U-Cup brine seal on both ends of an element. </li></ul><ul><li>Slide the first element in until it is 2/3 into the tube. (Note: All loading and unloading is done is the direction of flow, The direction of flow may not be the same for all tubes in a system. </li></ul><ul><li>Install an inter-connector (Twisting Motion) into the elements in until the second element is 2/3 into the tube. </li></ul><ul><li>Repeat this procedure until all the element are loaded into the tube. Don’t push the elements too far because the brine seal may roll over if the element are pushed backward. </li></ul><ul><li>Install the adapter, Thrust ring, End cap, and segmented ring set on the downstream end. </li></ul><ul><li>Go back to the stream end and push the stack of elements until they seat firmly against the downstream end cap. </li></ul><ul><li>Install the upstream adapter and end cap. </li></ul><ul><li>Align the end cap carefully during installation so you don’t pinch the adapter O-Ring. </li></ul><ul><li>Slowly fill the system with water at low pressure ( <100 psi) to prevent hydraulic shock at start-up, Be sure all air is purged, Then Start main pumps and bring the system up to design permeate. </li></ul>
