  • 2. What is Project-Based Learning?<br />Project-based Learning (PBL) is the use of classroom projects to bring about deeper more engaged learning in students.<br />Students use technology and inquiry to investigate issues that are relevant to their lives.<br />Students become more independent learners.<br />
  • 3. To be or not to be…<br /> Do decisions we make today impact our health tomorrow?<br />Is prevention the best way to preserve our health?<br />What is the definition of disease? What benefits do we get from exercise? What is a balanced diet?<br />
  • 4. Summary of unit<br />Students will investigate different ways to prevent disease processes in the body by exploring exercise, diet, and risk factors.<br />Students will then present their findings to the class in the form of a poster presentation.<br />
  • 5. Everybody plays a part!<br />My role as a teacher is to guide the learning of your children throughout this unit.<br />Your role as parent is to support the learning of your children throughout this unit.<br />The role of the student’s is to openly accept the challenge of learning new information.<br />
  • 6. The effort will be worthwhile<br />This unit will present students with information about leading a healthy lifestyle.<br />A healthy lifestyle leads to a long healthy life.<br />
  • 7. Learning Standards and Objectives<br />Alabama Learning Standard:<br />Students will be able to analyze the short-term and long-term consequences of personal health decisions.<br />Objectives:<br />Describe a well-balanced diet. <br />State the benefits of exercise.<br />Understand risk factors in various populations and the essentials of how to manage them.<br />
