2010 NCFYR Bid
Submitted by :
The Mecklenburg County Young Republicans
Why should Charlotte host the 2010 NCFYR Convention?
Merit- The Mecklenburg County Young Republicans have proven themselves to be one of the largest, fastest growing, most active clubs in North Carolina. The Mecklenburg YRs would appreciate the opportunity to show their growth and activism to the state.
The Meck YR's are active in local politics. The core membership is very involved with political activities including precinct organization, assisting and participating in other auxiliary GOP clubs, and volunteering for candidates along with being involved with social and community outreach events.
There would be ample people from the chapter to help with the convention if our chapter is able to host it.
Attractions- Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina. It has many attractions such as sports, nightlife, and the arts. Charlotte's downtown (or as locals call it, "Uptown") is rapidly expanding and has much to offer tourists.
Convenience- The area is convenient to get to, in terms of the interstates and mass transit options that go through it along with its location in roughly the center of the state.
Don’t take our word for it…Testimonials
“I have attended many professional and research conferences over the past 35 years and have planned a number of those conferences myself during that time. I have never seen a better handled conference or more consistently excellent service both by the Convention Bureau staff and by the people at the Omni. The City Center area is exceptionally clean and visitor friendly. The immediate area provided plenty of opportunities for shopping and recreation within walking distance of the hotel. The area restaurants were excellent and the prices were below what I am accustomed to in convention cities elsewhere in the country. The transportation system was very efficient and the airport was quite convenient.”“I am now an enthusiastic supporter of Charlotte and a top-notch convention city and am delighted to learn that a larger organization to which I belong will be bringing its annual convention to your city in 2008. Please accept my personal and professional thanks for an outstanding job!”
William G. Camp Professor of Agricultural Science Education, and Immediate Past President American Association for Agricultural Education
“MPI was thrilled to hold our annual Professional Education Conference- North America in Charlotte . It was our second highest attended meeting in history. We expected with the time of year it would impact attendance, but it did not. In fact we sold out of our hotel block and had to use a number of overflow properties. We polled our delegates prior to coming to Charlotte as to their perception of Charlotte and then immediately following. The majority of meeting planners (those who book meetings worldwide) changed their perception by a large percentage that they would book a meeting in Charlotte in the future when they did not consider it prior to coming. We had a positive experience, our delegates were delighted with the variety of restaurants, nightlife and how clean and safe the city was. “
Dana Rhoden, CMP, CMM Director of Strategic Events & Travel Services Meeting Professionals International
