    Search Engine Optimization (SEO ): Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Search Engine Marketing (SEM): Search engine marketing, or SEM, is a form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs) through the use of paid placement, contextual advertising, and paid inclusion.

    For an individual or company thinking of marketing their products or services, the Internet can be a virtually limitless gold mine of potential customers. Businesses must devote a portion of their marketing budget to the promotion of their website.
