  2. 2. Our Mission <ul><li>To respond to the love of Christ by creating partnerships with communities, families and volunteers from all walks of life to provide simple, decent houses for low-income families so that they can improve their quality of life through home ownership. </li></ul>

Affiliate History <ul><li>Founded in 1985 </li></ul><ul><li>Serving Washington, Carter and Sullivan counties, including Bristol, Va. </li></ul><ul><li>181 family partners including 288 adults and 448 children. </li></ul><ul><li>165 new homes built as of January 2008 with 16 homes “recycled”. </li></ul><ul><li>Thousands of volunteers involved. </li></ul><ul><li>120 Covenant partners since 1985. </li></ul>

Simple Decent Housing <ul><li>Houses are 880-1248 sq. ft. with 2 to 4 bedrooms and 1-2 baths. </li></ul><ul><li>Well built, energy efficient and low maintenance. </li></ul><ul><li>Built with donated funds, discounted materials and volunteer labor. </li></ul><ul><li>Sold at no profit, financed at zero interest. </li></ul><ul><li>Affordable payments of $300-$400 per month. </li></ul>

Covenant Funding <ul><li>Up to $30,000 (1/2 the cost of a complete house). </li></ul><ul><li>An additional $5,000 if a site supervisor must be hired for the project. </li></ul><ul><li>Funding can be provided by one group or a combination of two or more partner groups. </li></ul><ul><li>Funds are sometimes available from other sources </li></ul>
  16. 16. Volunteer labor <ul><li>3,000 to 4,000 volunteer hours </li></ul><ul><li>Committee or Coordinator to recruit and schedule volunteers for each day of the build. </li></ul><ul><li>Volunteer recognition (notes or wrap-up presentation) to thank volunteers for their efforts </li></ul>
