My Camping Trip to Misty Mountain By Saachi Wadhwani
**Day 1**
On Friday, March 13th 2009 my Girl Scout Troop met at the Hampton Hall Clubhouse. The people in my troop are Nicole Ade, Eliana Blash, Dharma Huffnagel, Julia Buck, Sonica Saithya, Neha Bhatia, Elizabeth Masmick, Jessica Masmick and me. Our troop leaders are Mrs. Ade and Mrs. Blash. We didn’t have school, so we were going on a camping trip to the Misty Mountain Campground. I rode in Mrs. Ade’s car. The ride was about 1 ½ hours. We did Mad Libs. It was fun. I felt bad for Mrs. Blash because her car didn’t reach with us because she had a truck and had to tighten the rain protector. We saw the ranger and he told us that we weren’t supposed to reach until 4:00, but he let us in. Then, when we reached the cabin, it was 12:45. We ate at the cabin. The ranger got our keys and radio. The ranger’s name was Ranger Lamat. Then we followed him to the cabin to get everything unpacked. Our cabin had a name!!! It was Trotters Ridge . He was nice. He told us the rules and showed us how to climb the bunk beds.
After he left, we ate lunch and it was 1:00!! Then we started calling bunks in the bunk rooms. I shared with Sonica and got the top bunk for the day. We passed about 3 mile markers. We stopped at a gigantic fire ring also. It was so cool!!!!!!!!! We went on a hike and saw horses!!! We got to pet them!! At dinner there were 3 groups and I was the bunny group so I had to clean up. BOOO!!!!!! We had pasta for dinner and I became “Pasta Queen” At night Sonica wanted to sleep on the top bunk so I had to switch bunks with her. I was so excited about Saturday. That was my 1st day at Camp Misty Mountain.
**Day 2**
The next day, I was in the cook group, but all we did was mix pancake batter. BOOO!!!!! It wasn’t the best ever but, it was pretty fun. I had cereal for breakfast.
After breakfast we all got dressed and went down to the barn. There we were in for a surprise (not really all of us because some, like me, knew). We got to ride horses!!! Ye -haw!!!! First, a girl named Ginnie (this is her barn name) showed us the rules, got us boots (with help), and got us helmets (with help). We were separated into 2 groups. One group got a horse named Little Joe even though he isn’t little. That group wasn’t mine. The other group, which was mine, got Dip. We had to groom him. He tried not to let her but she managed. I was glad to be watching and not doing! Then she showed us how to put on the saddle. You have to let him exam it before throwing it on! You put a blanket under it so it doesn’t get sore. Then you swing it up. Then strap things up. Then do the bridle. That was so confusing.
Then we got to ride horses. I rode Little Joe. There were 2 other horses to ride. They were Dip and Lucky. To make Little Joe turn right I just make a little tug on the right to make him turn. He turns because horses walk, they walk where they are looking and if they look left they will walk left. It was so fun.
Then we had pizza and made smores over the campfire. It was delious!!Sonica and I switched so I could sleep on the top for a night. So now you know what my 2nd day at Camp Misty Mountain was like.
**Day 3**
The next day was our last day there. My group were cooks again but we only cut muffins. Then we had to pack up and go home. I went in Neha’s car this time. In the car we made these land yards. We took 2 pictures and went home. I missed Misty Mountain, Little Joe, Dip, and Lucky. I was also glad to be back home. That is how my trip went at Misty Mountain.
