  3. 3. Christmas Day <ul><li>Christmas is celebrated December 25 th . The day Jesus was born from the Virgin Mary. </li></ul><ul><li>Christmas Eve, December 24 th is also celebrated. The way it is celebrated usually is by family tradition. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Decorations <ul><li>Many families decorate inside and outside their houses to fill the neighborhood and city with Christmas spirit. </li></ul><ul><li>Many decorations include light, statues, stockings, and giant snow globes. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Christmas Trees <ul><li>Christmas trees are usually fir trees and are decorated with lights, ornaments, and garland. </li></ul><ul><li>An angel or a star is also placed at the top to show that the day Jesus was born angels and stars were hosting. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Poinsettias <ul><li>Poinsettias are traditional flowers for the Christmas time of the year. </li></ul><ul><li>Poinsettias are only sold in a six week period around Christmas. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Jesus in the manger <ul><li>Jesus in the manger also known as the nativity scene, is very popular. </li></ul><ul><li>The night Jesus was born this was the scene with the Angels, Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus, all the animals and the Wise Men </li></ul>

Santa Claus <ul><li>Santa Claus, originally came from the name Father Christmas and in Dutch is Sinter Claas, and gradually changed to Santa Claus in the US. </li></ul><ul><li>Americans painted the image of Santa Claus as having a white beard, dressed him in a red suit and made him a cheery old gentlemen with red rosy cheeks and a twinkle in his eye. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Presents <ul><li>Christmas is supposed to be a time of giving and receiving therefore Americans usually buy presents for loved ones and give and receive from many. </li></ul>
