  • 1. Antipodeans Abroad St John Ambulance Youth Community Health Cambodia Placement 8th – 30th January 2011
  • 2. Community Health • Gain community health experience in a developing country • Community Health Clinics providing basic first aid and health education • Rural health care with local staff • Observe and assist local staff • 10 students + 1 supervisor
  • 3. Placement • 5 days work per week • Weekend free time and activities • Rotation between assisting clinic staff, running health education classes and home visits • Based on skills, experience and interest • Active placement- work with ICA
  • 4. Things to remember… • Working alongside local staff • Cultural sensitivity and respect • Cambodia is not Australia! • Frustrations of developing world • Can’t ‘save the world’ • Active placement- speak up! • Must be patient and flexible
  • 5. Cost • $4550 per person based on 10 travelling
  • 6. Inclusions… • Return international airfares and taxes • Accommodation during placement • Food as per itinerary • Entrance fees where applicable • Antipodeans Training Workshop • In-country meet & greet, airport transfers, orientation and transport • Placement and screened community project • Community Project facilitator on the Ground • Guides and Translators • Resources and Medical Supplies for mobile clinics (although you are encouraged to fundraise) • Support by In-Country Agent • 24 hr back up by Antipodeans Abroad in Australia

  • 8. From here… - EOI to St John Ambulance Youth - Team is selected - Students sent Booking Form from Antipodeans Abroad - $500 non-refundable deposit to secure your place - Information package- flights, visas, payment schedule, insurance, what to bring etc - You’re on your way to Cambodia!
