3. 3. “ Governors' Jump on Education Bandwagon.”

This Article states,

“ Research on the latest initiatives coming out of the governors' offices shows spending on education technology will increase dramatically over the next several years.”

“ Almost a third of the governors put increasing access to technology in grades kindergarten through 12 as one of their highest priorities in the upcoming year.”

 4. 4. “ Governors’ Jump on Education Bandwagon.”

This article states,

“ Pennsylvania has established a Link-to-Learn program that provides schools, libraries and communities with funds needed to gain access to technology.”

“ Over a three-year period, the state is investing $132 million to help schools purchase computers, train teachers on using technology and develop a collection of community-based networks called the Pennsylvania Education Network. Projects include building high-speed video, data and voice networks for rural counties throughout the state.”

In addition to state funding, education buyers have access to funds from the federal government. The Department of Education has made over $75 million available to schools and libraries for education technology since 1995 .

 5. 5. Personal Reflection

After reading this article it made me really see how important technology is in education. I myself have always just wanted to have a paper and pencil, but after reading this article I now see that with all the money being spent on technology in education I need to learn to embrace these changes and use them to my advantage.

 6. 6. “ Educational Network Provides Free Environment for Course Content.”

This article states,

ChitChat has launched a new online tool for educators. Dubbed the "Educational Network," the service provides free online hosting for class Web pages and multimedia content and allows educators to share materials with one another.

Educational Network lets teachers to create multimedia course content and share it with other teachers or with students via custom class Web sites

 7. 7. Educational Network Provides Free Environment for Course Content

This article states,

“ Most teachers want to make better use of the Web; whether it's to have their students take online quizzes or blog for class, or to share their course content with other teachers," said ChitChat founder Jack Phelps in a prepared statement. "But there's no simple way to share content, and they find that collecting work, evaluating it, and providing feedback via the Web is difficult if not impossible.”

However, with this network those worries go away. You can simply copy and paste!

 8. 8. Personal Reflection

I think that this is an awesome idea! I think it would be nothing less then amazingly helpful to be able to share these ideas with students and other teachers! It would be so easy to compare notes and show others what has worked for you!

 9. 9. “ DoE UMass Dartmouth Grant Targets Math Education”

This article states,

The United States Department of Education has awarded the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth 2 million dollars!!

This money is to research better methods and help tools in mathematics education.

"examine new strategies to excite students about learning math, and increase the number and diversity of students in the math, science, and engineering pipeline," the university reported.”

 10. 10. “ DoE UMass Dartmouth Grant Targets Math Education”

This article states,

"This is a critical time in the education of our students,'' said Kaput Center Director Stephen Hegedus in a prepared statement. "We need to offer a quality education that is research-informed and helps children develop the critical skills and motivation necessary to enter careers in mathematics, science and engineering. This will eventually have an impact on our local and global economy and productivity as well as address issues of social injustice in education today."

 11. 11. Personal Reflection

This website really meant a lot to me personally because I am completely useless when it comes to math. I would try my hardest but despite my efforts I was a C student at best. I believe that this extra money being spent for mathematics education is an awesome thing because I know there are many other students out there that suffer from the same problems as me, and this can lead to a big set back in achieving life long goals.

 12. 12. Conclusion

I believe that all three of these articles link together very closely. The one about math technologies funding and technology funding in general have an obvious correlation to one another. However, I decided on the third article, about teachers being able to share ideas easier for a very obvious reason. Not everyone is good at technology and even though I am 20 years old, I myself haven't learned how to use much of it. I believe that if we are going to be expected to use this technology there needs to be easy ways to go about it. With the sharing website it makes it easier to talk to other teachers, as well as your students. For me, when it comes to technology…simpler is much better. Overall, I have taken a lot from this assignment. It has became clear to me that much time and money has been spent on this new ideas, and if they are helpful I am more then willing to give them a shot.
