  2. 2. Definitions <ul><li>Subject- is who or what the sentence is about. Nouns are often used as subjects. </li></ul><ul><li>Example: The Bible is the Word of God. </li></ul><ul><li> Drew and I will go to a parade. </li></ul><ul><li>Simple Subject- see sentence number 1 </li></ul><ul><li>Compound Subject- see sentence number 2 </li></ul>
  3. 3. Definitions <ul><li>Predicate- is what is being said about the subject(s) in a sentence. The predicate starts with a verb. </li></ul><ul><li>Example: Brenda obey her parents . </li></ul><ul><li>Simple Predicate- when the sentence has one verb </li></ul><ul><li>Example: Maria cleaned her house yesterday. </li></ul><ul><li>Compound Predicate- when the sentence has more than one verb </li></ul><ul><li>Example: Maria cleaned and decorated her house yesterday. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Diagram Simple Subject and Simple Predicate <ul><li>Example: </li></ul><ul><li>Morgan won the race. Morgan won </li></ul>
