The government is a group of people who make rules and laws for their country. They help the president make decisions. The people on the right are from the government.
The big white house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is called the White House. The White House is where the presidents of the United States of America live. People also make rules and laws in the White House. Barack Obama is currently living in the White House.
Barack Obama is the current president of the United States of America and lives in the White House. He was born on August 4, 1961. He became president on January 20, 2009. He is the 44 th president, but he is the first president to be African American.
<ul><li>People in the United States of America use 26 symbols, called letters, to write. Together, the 26 letters are called the alphabet. Each letter is used to make a word, and words are used to make sentences. </li></ul>
Written Communication In the United States of America, people use writing to communicate. People write stories, facts, and many other things down on paper (bottom). Some of these things get made into books (top), which are lots of pieces of paper with words on them combined to make a story.

Religion The United States of America supports many religions. The religions in the United States are Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Unitarian Universalism, Wiccan, and a lot more!
Religion The main two religions in the United States of America are Judaism and Christianity. They have different beliefs and holidays because they are different religions. The St. Patrick’s Cathedral is where Christians go to pray (top) and a synagogue is where Jewish people go to pray (bottom).
Technology The United Stated of America has lots of modern technology. Some examples of modern technology are the iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, and a lot more. All of these things were invented by Steve Jobs, who was born on February 24, 1955 and died on October 5, 2011.
Technology The light bulb, invented in America, was made by Thomas Edison. It was invented in 1879 and is an example of old technology. The light bulb is probably one of the most used inventions today.
Stable Food Supply The United States of America has an extremely stable food supply. We have a lot of variety and many supermarkets to buy food from. The picture on the right is Shop Rite, a common supermarket.

Social Structure In the United States of America, we have three social classes. They are the upper class, the middle class, and the lower class. They are defined by how much money they have. The upper class have a lot of money, the lower class have very little money, and the middle class is right in between. The picture on the top is of a rich person, the middle picture is of a middle class person, and the bottom picture is of poor children.
