Web2.0 tools such as wiki's, blog's, social networking have changed the way we use the web. Previously to these tools content on the web was read only. You visited a site and read what was there. There was no capacity to comment on it, add content or interact in any persistent way. With the advent of Web2.0 tools we are now able to interact with the web. Blogs and wikis allow us all to contribute to the content on the web. Social networks allow us to meet each other and interact on the web. All these tools allow a two way conversation to take place and this is why we are now talking about Web2.0. All Web2.0 tools have one thing in common they are social, they enable people to collaborate and share content.
The question we are now asking is can these tools that have developed on the web be used within the business environment? A number of buzz words can be found usually with a 2.0 after them i.e. enterprise2.0, Libary2.0, etc, that are used to describe this. While there is considerable talk about the potential of using these tools there are few use cases. This is likely to be due to the fact that we are still in the early phase of exploring and experimenting with how these tools might be used. The aim of this session is to allow us to share our experiences and learnings. So lets start sharing; what has succeeded and what has not? what challenges do/did you face and how did you over come them? what got you into these tools? or why don't they work for you? We can learn something from everyone so if you have something to say then lets hear it.
