His half-brother, kept Louis's from reaching
Rheims, so instead Louis VI was crowned
on August 3 in the cathedral of Orleans by
Daimbert, Archbishop of Sens. The
archbishop of Reims, Ralph challenged the
anointment but was ignored.

Aquitaine asked Louis to be his
daughter Eleanor of Aquitaine’s
guardian.
He also expressed his wish for Eleanor
to Marry Louis’s oldest son.
