Bamboo Flooring - Presentation Transcript

  1. Bamboo Flooring
    • Bamboo Floors are incredibly durable and even stronger than most hardwoods. Made using strand woven bamboo, Bamboo Flooring is harder than most popular timber flooring including iron bark, spotted gum, brush box and jarrah. The result is an environmentally friendly product that has the look and feel of traditional timber flooring, but with unrivalled performance and at a competitive price.  Bamboo Flooring is pre-finished with six UV coatings, requires no further sanding or finishing and comes in a range of contemporary colours to match any interior. The six UV topcoats are scratch resistant and help block harmful rays from the sun to protect the bamboo floor from fading over time..
    Bamboo Flooring
    • Installing Bamboo Flooring is quick and easy, has no toxic fumes and causes minimal disruption to the homeowner..  Bamboo Flooring is an attractive alternative to hardwood floors as the product is sourced from the forests of a fully sustainable, environmentally friendly and rapidly growing renewable resource. Naturally self-generating, bamboo grows to maturity within five years and is regarded as the strongest wood plant on earth. With forest resources under continued environmental pressure, Bamboo Flooring is a natural selection
  2.
    • Environmental Advantage
    • Bamboo is the most environmentally friendly wood product on Earth because it is the fastest growing plant on record.  It takes 30-50 years for an oak tree to grow back after it is cut down for wood flooring.  Bamboo, on the other hand, can be sustainably harvested for flooring every 5-7 years.  Structural advantage Bamboo flooring can be twice as hard as oak floors and expand at half the rate of most hardwoods, making the wood fibers in bamboo much more ideal for flooring.  These unique physical characteristics make bamboo more suitable for a range of applications and installation environments.
  3.
    • Cost Advantage Bamboo flooring actually costs less than most hardwoods.  Sounds odd, but because bamboo is a grass and grows back so much faster than trees, the bamboo supply is not in the jeopardy of other hardwoods.  Also, because so many individuals and businesses have discovered the benefits of bamboo flooring in the last few years, the size of the product’s market has increased exponentially, bringing down manufacturing and distribution costs.
  4.
    • Care & Maintenance
    • 1. Prefinished flooring should be one of the last items installed in any new construction or remodel. The floor can be scratched and damaged by people installing or working with heavy equipment, machinery, and objects directly on the newly installed floor. 2. Vacuum and sweep your bamboo floor regularly. Use vacuum cleaners with attachments safe for prefinished hardwood floors and use soft bristle mop-style brooms. 3. Wipe up all spills (including water leaks and spills) immediately.
    • 4. Install protection pads underneath all furniture feet. When furniture and/or appliances need to be moved, always lift the object instead of sliding across the floor. Office chairs should be placed on a flat protector mat to avoid damaged caused by exposed wheels. 5. Place rugs and/or mats near every entry door to help reduce the amount of abrasive elements tracked into homes (such as dirt, grit, etc). Also place mats in front of any water source, such as sinks, showers, bath tubs, etc. Area rugs should have a non-abrasive backing. 6. Limit direct sunlight on the bamboo floor by utilizing window coverings, and rotating area rugs. Sunlight will cause the floor to discolour over time. Sunlight will cause the natural colour to slightly darken, and the carbonized color to slightly lighten.
    • 7. The following shoe styles are known to damage most hardwood floors, including bamboo flooring: high heels, stiletto heels, work boots, athletic cleats, and shoes that have lodged rocks, sand, or pebbles. 8. Do keep a few extra planks of flooring after your installation in the case that planks need replacement. These may also be used for matching finishes for simple repairs. 9. For unforeseen scratches or nicks on the surface of the flooring finish, repairs may be made by sanding and touching .
  5.
    • Bamboo flooring has recently started to become a popular alternative to the hardwood option. It's a beautiful and long-lasting material that's ideal for any climate.
    • It is now a favoured building material due to its hardness, strength.
    • It has a high natural resistance to moisture
    • It is easily able to keep its dimensions and resist buckling and warping.
    • It is 30% harder than red oak. [Bamboo] is 23% harder than oak, 13% harder than rock maple.
    • It can be laid down directly over concrete and can be secured to ply wood or chipboard.
    • Natural light colour and can vary in shades from an off white to a dark coffee colour.
    • It doesn't dent as readily as hardwoods.
