Biofuel Mandate being Introduced to Stated Council session today – June 21st <ul><li>Primary Components of the Biofuel Mandate: </li></ul><ul><li>B2 Mandate </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Requires all heating oil used in NYC to contain not less than 2% biodiesel by volume. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>The resulting mixture is a blend of biodiesel and petroleum-based. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Biodiesel used must come from sustainable-feedstocks, including fats or greases, soy bean oil, algal oil, biogenic waste oils, oil from annual covercrops, non-food grade corn oil and other cellulosic biomass </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>This mixture of sustainable biodiesel + petroleum-based heating oil will be called “bioheat” </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Implementation will be October 1, 2012 </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>Sulfur cap </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Reduce the allowable level of sulfur in fuel grade Number 4. from 3000 parts per million to 1500 parts per million. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Implementation will be October 1, 2012 </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul>Biofuels: NYC Legislation and Mandates
