History<br />The radio was based on the telegraph and the telephone.<br />It started out known as “wireless telegraphy.”<br />The discovery of radio waves (also known as electromagnetic  waves) was what made the radio possible.<br />Mahlon Loomis, an American dentist, was the first to successfully demonstrate “wireless telegraphy.”<br />Guglielmo Marconi, Italian inventor, proved that radio communication could work.<br />It was primarily used as a way to communicate news during World War II.<br />President Franklin Roosevelt’s radio speeches are said to have “shaped American history.”<br />
