  • How do I program acomputer?
  • Three basic ideas1. Variables2. Branching3. LoopingThat’s all there is to it. We’ll exploreusing a program called Scratch.
  • Sprites• Sprites are little pictures• We can animate them by changing the picture quickly• We can move, rotate, scale, hide, flip …..• This is how we create movement for our world.
  • This is sprite1,it comesalready loadedin the SPRITELIST and hasalready beenplaced on theSTAGETask: Right Click and delete sprite1 fromthe SPRITE LIST
  • Task: Click on the insert new sprite button.
  • Task: Select the sprite called cat2 from theanimals folder.
  • Task: Rename the sprite and call it cat.Remember to always call new sprites sensiblenames!
  • Task: From the control menu, dragand drop this rule into the SCRIPTSAREA
  • Task: From the control menu, drag and dropthe forever rule into the SCRIPTS AREA andjoin it together.Compatiblerules canbe joinedtogether intheSCRIPTSAREA
  • Task: Fromthe motionmenu, dragand drop thepoint towardsrule into theSCRIPTSAREA and joinit inside theforever ruleTask: choose mouse pointer from thedrop down list.
  • Task: change number of steps to 3.Task: Fromthe motionmenu, dragand drop themove 10steps rule intothe SCRIPTSAREA and joinit underneaththe pointtowards rule.
  • Task: run your program by pressing thegreen flag.
  • Notice how the co-ordinates change asyou move the mouse and sprite.
