Key Points: Notes: Have everyone introduce themselves (name, location, time at AC) ASK: Have people raise hands if they have been a manager >12-18 months. - let them know you will turn to them for their perspectives throughout the day Self Intro (introduce Host Partner if new for 2nd week) Check: Make sure everyone has done their MBTI - if not needs to be done by midmorning Do Banking Ice Breaker (45 mins.) Key Points: There is a lot of written material about this topic. We chose to focus on the ones most relevant to your role and career. (manage participants expectations) We could spend a whole day on this topic but there is only so much we can cover, consider this as food for thought and some tools to apply the basics Today is going to be a time to develop some skills that focus on the “people” aspects of being a good manager. There are many areas of interpersonal skills that we could cover, we’ve tried to pick the ones most relevant to this time in their career and most able to provide a starting point for their own individual development. Not going to make you “perfect” in one day. Going to give you things to think about and some tools to take away. Challenge you to engage and take time out and really think about the concepts that are going to be discussed. Really take a look at your client and team relationships. Notes: Complete Ice Breaker before getting to this slide 1 to 2 minutes on slide Transition:

Key Points: This helps us identify why group processes affect your work We know what the “what is” we will focus on the “How” Group Processes can have a large influence on your overall work experiences Notes: 1 to 2 minutes on slide Transition:

Notes: To determine what percentage of the class that was in each quadrant to show the diversity, do this activity: Raise hand if in corner, Raise hand if in 4 middle, Raise hand if in 4 outers. Exercise: (Overheads 23-24) Have students summarize/map their team’s MBTI types by doing the following: In classroom team, create a flipchart that looks like this: E I S N T F J P Put a tally mark next to each preference for each person on your team that has that preference. Use the following questions to think about type and your team. For the preferences that you have a balanced representation on your team, what is good about that? What might be a challenge because of the balance? For each preference for which your team is NOT balanced, what could your team be missing? For the preferences in the minority, are they being heard? If there are missing preferences, what could your team be missing and what should your team do about it? On a flipchart, create an action plan for how you will work together as a team over the next several days to complete a case presentation, taking into account your individual preferences. Instructor Tip: Do large group inventory (4 corners; middle) Normally question = hypothesis of success profile = ENTJ NOT PROVEN Caution = some people have worried MB profile will be in personal file = No. HR knows you attended and completed but do not have access to MBTI

Key Points: Why you can make a bad/ process doesn’t feel good is to the degree the decision is tacit or explicit/ relevant to importance Notes: Transition:

Key Points: Notes: Ask the students to think of their favorite vacation destination Build: a flip chart discussing favorite vacation destinations: Record the responses Chart up to 10-15 Now ask: “Now, pretend we’re all one big family and we need to decide where to go on vacation together. Have students indicate why they selected their destinations Record responses Walk students through exercise of mapping options with evaluation criteria. Tally results to come up with a final answer. Wrap-up by introducing toolkit – Memory Jogger Transition:

Key Points: Notes: Instructor Tip: Create on flip charts (2) a tally like page 10 on participant guide. Have as many teams as in room. Transition:
