  • Welcome to Marketing YOU!The purpose of today’s session is to provide you an overview of how to market yourself whether you’re unemployed, underemployed or just want to proactively manage your image.Chris & I hope you enjoy what we have developed & have some fun this morning!
  • Review BULLETSNeed to do some SOUL searching….to identify your actual strengths & competencies, passions & values.Obviously it is IDEAL if you truly enjoy what you do and your good at it too! This is how you begin defining your brand!
  • Here are some popular images…What comes to mind when you see? …. point to several. - What thoughts or feelings arise? In essence, this what you need do to help create your own image or brand.
  • I’m sure everyone is familiar with the expression “First impressions are lasting impressions”. Why is that important? Why bother dressing up?Why is it important to have good posture & a firm handshake?Whether you use lots of ummms & ahhhhs….or you’re inarticulate with your elevator speech…it is very important to speak clearly & concisely.People know when we’re truly listening to them or not. By our attentiveness and how we ask more specific questions in response to their comments. We need to prefect the art of conversation….(I prefer that to “small talk”)
  • What is an “Elevator Speech”? Why is it important?By consistently repeating the same informative & exciting message over & over people will begin remembering what you’re telling them.Whether its your elevator speech or presentations or the art of conversation…we need to: practice, practice, practice….Other communication strategies include tools like LinkedIn (or even Facebook, MySpace, twitter). What Associations you focus your networking will determine initial types of people you may run into. What are some others besides PMI that you attend or have been thinking about attending? LIST THEM on the flipchart.Chris has some examples…
  • A simple formula of creating your BRAND.
  • So, we covered BRAND & RELATIONSHIPS….now we can discuss Networking.Networking is bringing the BRAND to market. We are marketing OURSELVES!!We’re typically not used to doing this or tooting our own horn. It is something that we need to learn.
  • So, we’ve discussed brand quite a bit.Now we need to talk about RELATIONSHIPS. Review each of the bullets… Know you & like you Mutual support & respect Effectively maintain your contact list. What does quality of the transaction or interaction meanAnd again, knowing people who know who we are, what we’re like, what we’re really good at and passionate about, all help develop YOUR Brand.
