  • Copyright 2010 FUJITSU LIMITED The Fujitsu BPMS approach combines methodologies and software to help you: Discover & visualize your as-is processes as they really are! This jump-starts process improvement Use this as the basis for further refinement and extending into a complete process-based application with the required rules, forms, kpis and integration hooks Automate the process – which involves getting the right people the right information at the right time; providing capabilities to collaborate to complete tasks; timers, reminders, and escalation paths are in place Analyse process performance Optimise processes by identifying bottlenecks (back to discover & visualize) Govern – central to all of this is the concept of process governance; all processes and assets are stored for reuse; you also know who changed what when; especially important in a shared services environment

  • From our experience working with 1)enterprise customers that have deployed BPM in a shared services environment within their companies; and 2) with partners that have built interstage bpm-based saas solutions, we’ve continued to enhance our BPM offering to make it truly cloud-ready The main things that differentiate our BPM offering are (see list on slide) The Interstage Cloud BPM platform runs within the Fujitsu data centres here in the US. Each client gets its own instance and can run multiple applications within each instance. Alternatively, we can also set up dedicated servers upon request

    • 360°business and team performance views
    • Drill-down into details to find the right person
    • Look at “future tasks” before assigning work
    • Get work done your way
    • Business users are no longer chained to the process that was initially modeled

    • Discover & Visualize
    • Visualize the “As-Is” process as it “Really-Is”. Identify typical & exception paths, loop-backs, repeated steps, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
    • Define & Refine
    • Define and refine process models, simulation scenarios, rules, KPIs, forms, and integration points to create a process-based application.
    • Automate
    • Implement the process-based application. Set timers, reminders, and escalation paths. Collaborate on task completion.
    • Analyze
    • Analyze work in progress, alerts, exceptions & metrics, KPIs, and historical analysis reports
    • Optimize
    • Recognize & react to process performance, resource utilization & bottlenecks and propose remediation measures. Test new processes.
    • Govern
    • Central store for all processes and other SOA assets. Govern usage of assets – who changed what, when, and the impact

    • Interstage APD is unlike existing visualization approaches:
    • It visualizes processes that have taken place, not theoretical workflows
    • It works from a simple data extract and does not need permanent links to your IT

  • 1. 360°Performance View
    • Benefit: Helps immediately respond to business change
      • Unified dashboard - tasks, processes, reports, KPIs, and alerts
      • Personalized portal
      • Side-by-side comparison charts
      • Team member specific reports - e.g., how many tasks are active, at risk, delinquent, or have been completed.

  • 2. Performance-based Tasking Recommendations
    • Benefit: Helps identify the right person for the job in real-time
      • Who has the least workload?
      • Who has completed this task the fastest in the past?
      • Who has had the most extensions to deadlines in the past?
      • Who has had the most/ least alerts triggered for that task in the past?
      • Who has the most experience completing this kind of task?
    Copyright 2009 Fujitsu America, Inc.
  • 3. Performance-based Recommendations on Alert Thresholds
    • Benefit: Assists with setting realistic customer SLAs
      • Interstage BPM can automatically set thresholds for alerts and notifications based on a historical analysis of process performance.
      • For instance, if a particular task took three days on average to complete, the system automatically knows to recommend a due date that is three days from the day the task is assigned to a particular user.
      • Users can always choose to reset or reschedule these alerts and notifications.

  • 4. Workload Predictors
    • Benefit: Aids team performance optimization
      • Interstage BPM provides users with a listing of tasks that are likely to get assigned to them in a given period of time.
      • Managers can also look at the forecasted tasks for each team member before they decide to assign more tasks on an ad hoc basis.

  • 5. Dynamic Tasking
    • Benefits:
      • Business users are no longer chained to the processes that were initially modeled – get work done your way
      • Business users are empowered to make ad hoc decisions around task assignments as they see fit to address changing business needs.
      • The system captures the “real” process as it unfolds and provides the option to standardize on it.

  • 6. Tasks Delivered On-the-Go
    • Benefit: Get work done anytime, anywhere.
      • Users can have tasks delivered to a mobile phone, PDA, email, a portal of choice or any other RSS client. This saves them from having to log-in to an application each time they need to complete an assignment.
      • Tasks can also be easily added to calendars.

  • 7. Richer Goal-Oriented Project Management Capabilities
    • Benefit: Helps alert the team to potential issues
      • Visual representation of project phases and milestones
      • Reports highlighting milestones that were met/ missed
    Copyright 2009 Fujitsu America, Inc.
  • 8. Patented Process Pattern Discovery within Analytics
    • Benefit: Visualizes the “as is” process as it “really is” providing insight for process refinement
      • End-to-end process visibility
        • Analyze hybrid processes
        • Typical paths
        • Exceptions
        • Repeated steps
        • Loopbacks
        • Standard deviation & other metrics
        • Drill-down capabilities
      • Option to standardize on hybrid process patterns
    Copyright 2009 Fujitsu America, Inc.
  • 9. Process Collaboration & Knowledge-Sharing Capabilities
    • Benefits: Helps build best practices
      • Process wikis and threaded comments
      • Process outlining
      • Reusable process snippets
    Copyright 2009 Fujitsu America, Inc.
  • 10. Advancements in Multi-Tenancy
    • Benefit: Makes enterprises’ BPM shared services organizations and centers of excellence more cost-effective and efficient
      • Enhanced multi-tenancy features
      • Each “tenant’ has secure access to the same set of world-class BPM tools that support agile and iterative process improvement
      • Fujitsu’s Cloud BPM platform (www.interstagebpm.com) also leverages these capabilities to provide enterprises with their own secure BPM space
    Copyright 2009 Fujitsu America, Inc.
  • Interstage Cloud BPM Platform Advanced Multi-Tenancy Capabilities
    • A BPM installation can be configured into any number of virtual servers or partitions
    • Each partition can host multiple BPM applications
    • Each BPM application will have a separate context and can be deployed as web application
    • Each partition may have its own directory adapter, or multiple partitions may share a single directory adapter.
    • Every partition has its own set of administrators. Rights and access control to capabilities are unique to a partition.
    • When users log in to a partition, they only retrieve tasks from that partition, can only access processes from that partition, can only see templates from that partition.
    • Partitions have different virtual database servers
