Created a map of a typical mine operations. Embedded photos and videos of peoples' stories. Overlaid before-and-after imagery of removed mountaintops.
  8. 8. Creating content in Google Earth Demo of Appalachian Mountaintop Removal in Google Earth To follow along: 1. Open Google Earth. 2. Find the Layers Panel. 3. Expand the "Global Awareness" group. 4. Check ON the "Appalachian Mountaintop Removal" layer.
  9. 9. Impact: Appalachian Voices 13,000+ people from every U.S. state and 35+ countries signed an online petition to stop the dumping of mountaintop mining waste into waterways. Over 150 congressional co- sponsors from the U.S. House of Representatives for a bill to change the Clean Water Protection Act. "It's easier than you think. Don't feel like you need to contract out expensive consultants to develop a project. Take the time to learn a little, and you'll be surprised how much you can accomplish on your own." -- Mary Anne Hitt, Executive Director, Appalachian Voices

Copy embed code and paste in your website or blog. Embed Maps: From My Maps, click the "Link" link. Select the embed code under the "Paste HTML to embed in website" link. Copy embed code and paste in your website or blog.
