Robert Trent Jones Jr. rebuts the criticism of Gary Player and even takes a fashion jab, call it
competitive dissing because these two are still vying for jobs.

Jones also spoke briefly to ESPN.com's Gene Wojciechowski, who put together quite a roundup of
player gripes about the greens, especially from Ernie Els. There was this from Jones:
"Gary Player is welcome to his opinion -- and he has many of them ... I don't take it personally.
"He's a competitor, he's a golf architect. He's never had a U.S. Open course, I know that."
