  2. 2. I.S.I.S.S. Pietro GiordaniThe Project:•a project of peer tutoring dedicated tointegration and learning of students withdisabilities,• supported by the Province of Parma incollaboration with the Ufficio ScolasticoProvinciale• financed by FONDAZIONE CARIPARMA
  3. 3. I.S.I.S.S. Pietro GiordaniTutor:• takes care of students with disabilities,• performs tasks of integration at school and in extracurricular contexts,• facilitates learning and studying at school• helps with homework and other activities at home.
  4. 4. I.S.I.S.S. Pietro GiordaniIts functions are defined by the Class Board which outlinesthe programme and development in PEI (IndividualEducational Project)The tutor helps to reach the objectives set out in individualprojects.

Pietro Giordani Tutor:Helps their peers with disabilities to overcome thedifficulties associated with the study and managementof everyday life; HowOrganizing the free time to go to the cinema, theatre,library, sport centres;Establishing relationship of friendship and cooperationwith the aim of building the LIFE PROJECT .

Pietro Giordani Tutor Agreement• The tutor signs a cooperation agreement for about 4-5 hours a week ( 80 hours per year)• he is granted a refund ( 10 euro per hour)The contract must include the number of hours of the project, the commitments required by the class board and the exact indication of the working days and hours.

Pietro Giordani Types of activated projects• school intervention: the tutor comes into the classroom and becomes a “special” classmate• intervention out of school: the tutor becomes the “special friend” to share leisure activities and entertainment.• mixed: the tutor gives his intervention both at school and outside
  8. 8. I.S.I.S.S. Pietro Giordani FamilyIn outside and mixed projects the collaboration of thefamily of a disabled student is demanded in order tocontrol the activities of the tutor .Referring Teacher keeps the project monitored.

Giordani has a twenty year experience in theinclusion of students with limited abilities.This year the number of students certified under the former L.104/92 is 68.Our attention to these students is directed mainly to the definitionof their life plan with identification of skills and competencies tobe developed in order to reach a future work placement in theadult world.The project of integration and inclusion in school is supported bythe close collaboration of all the people who work around theperson, family, teaching staff, doctors, classmates.
