Because Diego & Maria saw poverty in India,
poverty like they’ve never seen before.
But they were sad. 156 million people, 41.6% of her population living
below the poverty line of $1.25 per day.

The bad news is poverty
crushes the human spirit!
Three billion people - one half of the world’s population - live on
less than $2 per day.
People this poor are unable to meet their basic human needs.
Malnutrition, lack of health care, substandard housing, and
illiteracy breeds desperation, disease, and daily suffering.
Poverty traps future generations in a vicious cycle without hope or
opportunity.

Diego & Maria wanted to help!
But they didn’t know what to
do.
That is until a friend told
them about micro-
entrepreneurship
It made sense to Diego as a
banker.
And it made sense to Maria
as a teacher.

The good news is poverty can
be eliminated!
Through the use of micro-finance and micro-credit loans, the
world’s poor can become micro-entrepreneurs.
The most common tool to help micro-entrepreneurs is a micro-
credit loan - usually less than $100.
These tiny loans are enough for hardworking micro-entrepreneurs
to start or expand small businesses such as basket weaving,
raising chickens, or buying wholesale products to sell at the
market.

Poverty as we know it can virtually be eliminated within one
generation!
With the elimination of poverty comes hope, health, and the
strengthening of poor families.
As an old Chinese Proverb says: Give a man a fish and you feed
him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
