  2. 2. Yoga and Meditation achievethe most important change inour living & that is to changethe way we breath daily.Normally we use only 25% ofour lung capacity by breathingthrough chest muscles.
  3. 3. This is modulated throughsympathetic system which is ourfriend in emergencies like flight,freight & fight . The healthybreathing developed by Yoga &Meditation which is deep & slow byusing diaphragm which is tranquil,peaceful & deep breathing mode .
  4. 4. The key words are deep and slowbreathing. Deep rhythmic, slowbreathing makes many beneficialchanges in our body like• Use of all the 100% lung capacity,raising the tissue oxygen level from40% to 90%. Whole body feels wellfed with the life giving Oxygen-vitality.

  8. 8. made patients get out of bedreduced the aortic pressure, thepulmonary artery pressure, thediastolic pressure in the leftventricle, and also significantlyincreased the ejection fraction(functional capacity of the heart) inthe patients who were otherwisedying of terminal heart failure.
  9. 9. Another study in California showedthat a group of patients in terminalheart failure waiting for hearttransplant, death rate wasprohibitively high as no donor wasavailable. One of the Cardiologistsstudied the effect of Yogic slowdeep rhythmic breathing on thosepatients with remarkable results.
  10. 10. Nearly half of the patients in thegroup did not have any moreindication for heart transplant afterthe yogic breathing exercise for 6-9weeks and were discharged home.There are many cardiologists nowapplying these techniques inroutine patient care in the west.Many more are doing in India.
