  2. 2. WACREP WATER & CLIMATE RESILIENCE PROGRAMME(WACREP), SOUTH ASIA SUPPORTING SOUTH ASIAN COUNTRIES TO WITHSTAND THE CLIMATE CHANGE

Global Water Partnership Organization (GWPO), Stochkolm and Global Water Partnership South Asia launched the WACREP to assist Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan & Sri Lanka in Oct 2013. The Global Programme - Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) and projects to build climate resilience through better water management and WACREP comes under its wings. The First phase of WACREP will end in March 2015. There are 40 interventions have been planned under the first phase , including regional and national activities . Collaborations have been formed with the Regional Players such as SAARC & SACEP as well as the UNDP & IWMI to implement some regional activities. . The national activities are being implemented with the Country Water Partnership with their implementing partners. Supports to enhance institutional capacity, knowledge sharing and develop partnerships among institutions and stakeholders to integrate water security and climate resilience in development process ABOUT WATER & CLIMATE RESILIENCE PROGRAMME WACREP
  4. 4. REGIONAL ACTIVITIES SACEP, UNDP & GWP SAS Regional capacity building programme for Water Resources Managers on possible climate change adaptation strategies. IWMI, WMO, UNESCAP & GWP SAS on Establishment of Drought Monitoring System for South Asia leading to Drought Early Warning System. UNDP & GWP SAS Capacity building programme on Hydro Economic Modeling : to improve the capacity of government staff in South Asia & South East Asian Countries. India, Pakistan & Afghanistan Strengthen track 2 diplomacy for better co-operation on climate change resilience. SAARC & IWP High-level consultation to improve trans-boundary co-operation among India, Nepal & Bangladesh. IWM & BWP Regional workshop to share lessons on current issues and opportunities in addressing Deltaic Regions in Pakistan, India & Bangladesh. WACREP

DEVELOPMENT OF TOOL Development of suitable dynamic & interactive webbased project monitoring interface with different authority limits for Country Water Partnerships and Regional Office (PM), Recruit E-module and Information Technology Expert - Capacity Building Programme on Water & Climate Resilience Programme Contract Period March 2014 – March 2015 Terms of Reference for consultancy recruitment developed and marketed the concept to GWPO & GWP SAS Decision makers.

WACREP Approach… Monitoring Tool can be accessed through WACREP page – GWP SAS Website, Initially developed for WACREP and later extend the platform to the CORE activities as well, Ownership & responsibility of entered data with individual CWPs and/or GWP SAS, User Friendly – Can be used by the people with limited IT literacy Operation guideline manual for key users available
  12. 12. SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE Data Capturing Module Countries will only see what they have entered Progress Monitoring Module Performance Monitoring Module Database is hosted in a webserver and users can access it through web through computer or smart phone

Back End - Data Capturing Module/Interface Basic Information such as countries, organizations, goals, packages, etc.. are captured from one location to prevent data duplication Data is captured using three sections Activities Log Frame Monthly Report Reporting Entered data can be exported to Excel or Word Currently four report are implemented with export facilities Budget, Disbursement, Expenditure and Monthly Report
