  • GWPO-ANBO SITWA Project •SITWA: Two-phased approach: • One-year Inception Phase (Oct. 2012-Oct.2013) • Two-year Implementation Phase (2014-2015) •3 Million Euro, over 3 years •EC/GWPO Contribution Agreement (joint management approach) signed on 30 December 2011 •Inception Phase started October 2012 will end in October 2013 4SITWA Project GWP/ANBO Funded by the EU
  • SITWA OBJECTIVES The overall objective of SITWA is to strengthen regional cooperation at the political, economic and stakeholder level for sustainable management of transboundary water resources in Africa contributing to peace and security, stability and poverty alleviation, relying on African knowledge. Objective 1: ANBO transformed into a sustainable and influential organization as a pillar under AMCOW: The project aims at transforming ANBO into a sustainable and influential organization, as a pillar under the African Union (AU) and AMCOW framework, that supports the development of lake and river basin organizations as catalysts for policy and institutional development, knowledge and information management and capacity development on transboundary water management and development Objective 2: ANBO Program implemented and TA provided through the RECs: ANBO with GWPO support will provide technical assistance to the RBOs (through the RECs and their respective member states) to develop IWRM Strategies and Plans (including addressing vulnerability to floods and droughts, priority issues for short and long term development, water quantity analyses and water quality objectives, etc.) in the river basins where they are not yet developed, and to implement plans where they exist. 5SITWA Project GWP/ANBO Funded by the EU

  • Implementation Strategic plan for 2015-2019 under way; Consultations held in Abuja and Dakar; ANBO-AMCOW relationship establishment; AWIS launched; Organized training in financing of sustainable water resources management and development: economics, financing opportunities and project preparation April 2014; ANBO with EUWI-AWG, ICA, CapNET, GWPO Organized consultations for strategic planning in May 2014; Networking activities: Ho Chi Min City conference; AWW,meeting with CIWA SITWA Project GWP/ANBO Funded by the EU 7
