  12. 12. 12 Green Climate Fund-Eligibility The Fund will support developing countries in pursuing project-based and programmatic approaches in accordance with climate change strategies and plans, such as low-emission development strategies or plans, nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs), national adaptation plans of action (NAPAs), national adaptation plans (NAPs) and other related activities.

  15. 15. 15 Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) Progress • Task Force for Integrated Drought Management established in Central and Eastern Europe • Mapping study on current situation in drought management, related risks and the current policies regarding drought monitoring in CEE.
  16. 16. Horn of Africa-programme under development-9 countries Overall objective: promote an approach that moves drought management practices from reactive, crisis management to more proactive drought management based on risk management principles, and based on the broader IWRM

  18. 18. IWRM as a tool for climate change adaptation in CACENA 18 Program goal: Help countries to harmonise their efforts on climate change adaptation using IWRM approach GWP Caucasus and Central Asia( CACENA)
  19. 19. CEE Program focuses on 8 local demonstration projects with regional capacity development component Examples: Improvement of water infrastructure in Armenia. Disaster mitigation measures in the Sakire village in the Borjomi region, Georgia. Drought Risk Management in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan-  Expected that the water supply to the farm demonstration plots will be reduced by 20-30%. 19
  20. 20. 20 • South Asia Water and Climate Resilience Programme launched at the India Water Week in April 2013.  Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka • Promotion of control indicators in China for better management of water resources,  water information- sharing platform in China’s Fujian Province,  On-site survey and study on optimized water resources allocation and climate resilience conducted in the coastal areas of Hebei Province and Shaanxi Province. South Asia and China
  21. 21. 21 • Caribbean: 9 ministers signed declaration for WACDEP implementation- work with Caricom and CCCCC under way  Intergrating risk management approaches in national development plans • Central America- Improved understanding of regional dimensions of water and climate, regional workshop attended by government reps on water and CC • Transectoral agreement in Peru developed for consideration by 13 cabinet ministers Latin America & the Caribbean, Asia
  22. 22. 22 Deltas Initiative: • Consultations carried out in Benin, Nile Delta Delta and Bangladesh with possible programmes proposed. • Joint “Deltas Alliance/GWP” vulnerability assessment of Irrawaddy Delta in Myanmar Building resilience in Delta regions
