LOCAL PILOT ACTIONS
(LOCAL ACTIVITIES FOR PROJECT “BIRTH OF IMAGE”)

1. Describe the group you worked with (age, background, organization, number of people
involved, etc.)
The group was made by 7 young people from 23 to 28 years old.
All participants come from the east side of Sicily and they are graduated at the Catania University where
some of them are still studing.
2. Describe your activities (venue, date, duration, theme, tools used, etc.)
We have organized 3 meetings:
the first was focused on the concept of identity and we used the non formal education as main tool;
the second meeting was a photo session during which participants had the chance to collect many
pictures of our community.
The last meeting was a premier session; during this moment the participants had the chance to edit the
product used for the competition.
3. Describe the outcome of the local project (results created in the group)
We created a video made with photo, this video could easily used to promote the local community and to
show the main aspects of our culture.
4. Describe the difficulties you faced and the good practices that can be used when working
with groups of young people
The main problem was to organize the meeting according with the needs of participants.
As a good practice we think that when you use different tools with young people you can easily get your
goal, so if we mix practical moment, like shooting photo or edit a video, and theoretical moment you can
longer have the attention of youngsters.
5. Describe how young people benefited from the activities and what they learned
They learned the importance to think before to start a project; to reflect about the content and the
contest and only after this reflection a good job can start.
