      • Utilize resources on the Web;
      • Effectively manage students’ time;
      • Communicate with faculty and staff; and
      • Make use of assistance programs offered by Odyssey
  • 3.
    • Flexibility in scheduling
    • Increased access to curriculum (24/7)
    • More parental involvement
    • Less “off task’ learning
    • Self-paced
    • Too much flexibility for adolescents
    • Procrastination due to increased access
    • Parents’ lack of computer literacy
    • Increased distractions at home
    • Self pacing requires self motivation
  • 4.
    • “ I’ll never use this in real life.”
    • “ I can’t learn online.”
    • “ It’s too hard, and I’ll never be able to do it.”
    • “ There’s no hope, so trying is useless.”
    • “ I’m so far behind, and I can’t do it.”
    • “ When students repeatedly do poorly, especially when they are trying their hardest, they quickly become demotivated. When students cannot rise to the challenges being presented to them, most will become frustrated and stop trying.” ( Motivating Students: http://library.thinkquest.org/C005704/content_teaching_motivating.php3 )
